The CBIZ Small Business Employment Index enjoys a May expansion

Our May Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) has been released and the findings show a significant increase of 1.91 percent during the month, following a slight increase of .43 percent in small business hiring in April.

In an interesting contrast, ADP’s May jobs survey illustrated that the private sector added just 135,000 jobs, well below analysts’ estimates of 167,000 jobs. However, this month’s numbers did manage to beat April’s revised tally of 113,000 added jobs.

Additional information on these findings can be found in May's Small Business Employment press release.
