CBIZ Small Business Employment Index shows seasonality strength

Our January Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) has been released and the findings show a 2.37 percent decrease during the month, following a decrease of 0.39 percent in small business hiring in December.

Although the SBEI showed a reduction, the index saw its lowest seasonal decline in the month of January in two years. On the contrary, ADP’s January jobs survey revealed that the private sector added 192,000 jobs, surpassing analysts’ estimates of 165,000 jobs and exceeding December’s revised tally of 185,000 added jobs.

Additional information on these findings can be found in January's Small Business Employment Index press release.
