Our August Small Business Employment Index (SBEI) has been released and the findings show an improvement in employment for small businesses. The August SBEI increased by 1.15 percent, following a decrease of 1.57 percent in small business hiring in July. The SBEI’s increase in small business hiring also correlates with reports from the private sector that the job market grew last month. ADP’s August jobs survey reported the private sector added 201,000 jobs, which beat analysts’ estimates and surpassed July’s revised tally of 173,000 jobs added.
